Easter
Chapter 12
The events at the sepulchre on Easter morning
To an initiated person, that is, a person so developed that he can understand through the power of the holy spirit, the events which had just occurred would contain nothing mysterious. An onlooker who could tolerate the powerful light of the divine spirit, would have noticed a "materialization" which came about through spiritual forces so intense that they could be felt even in the material sphere and cause ordinary men nearby to become unconscious through the effect of the cosmic rays. Such an onlooker would also have understood that the materialization was the return of the heavenly messenger and that he was returning in divine glory in order to prove before the priests of death, before the apostles of superstition and the guardians of paganism, that life is eternally indestructible and that, in spite of banning and burning, in spite of persecution and torture, crucifixion and death, it eternally survives its opponents, its enemies and executioners. Even on the dead physical body of Jesus the intense cosmic rays had an effect; the powerful light "dematerialized" it and laid it to rest elsewhere where earthly hands could not disturb that which was still living in it. This glorious return of the Saviour occurred, not so that he could boast in the face of his adversaries, but purely as a result of his love. God's emissary could not return into his Father's realm without once more showing to a sceptical and ignorant mankind that supernatural heavenly forces really exist. In doing this he made one last effort to make men feel doubtful of a god of vengeance and to lead them out of the dark paths of murder and misery.
For this posthumous physical return of his he had still one other motive. His disciples still did not thoroughly understand him in spite of their three years of instruction from him. For them the whole suffering of the Master therefore seemed unexpected and deprived them of hope. Struck by terror and anguish they had fled in all directions. But the love of the Master did not fail them. From the physical sphere they could not come to him, but he could come to them. After he had done everything possible for his adversaries and tormentors, pardoning them and alleviating their fate, he turned to his friends.
