The Christmas Gospel
Chapter 18
The terrestrial human being's organic structure and the relationship to war and suffering in the world that is based on it
The Christmas Gospel's "peace on earth", "kingdom of heaven" or the zone of complete neighbourly love cannot possibly be built by beings whose organic structure is created to trigger brain functions only in the form of the desire to own another being and the jealousy or envy that follows from this. As jealousy or envy or the feeling of violated rights of ownership or possession is the seed of the killing principle or hate, the purely male and female beings become thus the reproductive organs of hate and thereby war, sufferings, sorrows or evil. Without this sexual state, evil or the spiral's dark sphere would be an impossibility. The darkness or evil in the world is thus in its basic foundation not an act of will. It represents rather a way of being that is determined by external factors and by organs built for the purpose. This is why the beings cannot suddenly transform themselves, as if by miracle, from "animal" to "human being" either. And this is precisely why we get all the many different levels of character or degrees of morality within terrestrial humanity. It consists precisely of beings who to a particularly intense degree are undergoing transformation from "animals" to "human beings". But in this process they are not equally advanced, and of course this must appear only in the form of many different steps. Many terrestrial human beings of today have probably no greater desire than to just be able to appear as a perfect human being. And if it were about only their will, the daily life of terrestrial human beings would exhibit a great variety of such miracles, where beings suddenly in a single instant transform themselves from "animals" to "human beings" according to their will.
But it does not work like this. The purely animal and purely human state are as mentioned the effects of each one's particular organic structure. And a being cannot possibly represent the effects of the organic structure it does not have. But it can in fact gradually in its daily existence train itself up to be able, with its completely rational or waking day-conscious will, to perform small, simple acts in compliance with the laws that lead it towards the "kingdom of heaven" or perfection. This growing compliance with the laws later comes little by little to be a habit of consciousness. And when a particular behaviour has become a habit, it has of course become a talent, a faculty or form of manifestation that one can display without any necessary intense, mental concentration. We do not thus need, for example, to think about or put our will into action every time we move a leg when we walk along a road. Here we can almost completely independently of this leg movement have a conversation with a fellow being, whilst the toddler who is learning to walk has to concentrate almost entirely on the movement of each leg at a time when walking in order to maintain equilibrium or balance.
When the manifestation thus becomes a function of habit, this would then mean that it has got its own organ, so that the brain or the waking thought concentration is no longer required. And with regard to manifesting "human" manifestations, which is to say the "good", there is no exception. These manifestations must likewise be carried out with a fully awake consciousness. Little by little they gradually become routine or a habitual function as they are carried out again and again. And in this way the individual develops the skill to be able to do "good" in more and more situations as a purely learned routine or virtuosity. But this aspect is of course only an outer, wakeful day-conscious construction and perfection of the organic structure by virtue of which the being can appear as the perfect human being or human being in God's image. It would never come to fruition or manifestation if there did not exist an inner building process concerning the same organic structure. The effects of the outer building-up of the organ can turn the manifestations into only cold, rational correctness, which is the basis of so-called higher education and good upbringing. But this cold, intellectually acquired good breeding can also go overboard and rather than decorate its creator, it lets it appear to a large extent as a   Pharisee.
