37.17  The human being in God's image is, as we know, a being that knows evil in all its manifestations and that is now, by virtue of this knowledge gained from experience, an expert at the way of being that is the culmination of light or universal love. But this highest divine state of life is the same as being in God's image. It would thus be totally unattainable without the experience of darkness and the knowledge and abhorrence of evil developed from this. Darkness is an initiation into an existence of love and wisdom in the highest cosmic worlds, which are prepared for human beings when their behaviour has been cleansed of darkness and of the manifestations of war and hate, and they have become one with God's way of being, which is universal love.
