19.1  The Godhead, the devil and the Christian view of life
We have now come so far in the cosmic analysis of the universe that we have begun to be able to faintly see the solution to the so-called "evil" or the mystery of darkness. For thousands of years mankind has lived with the erroneous belief that everything unpleasant, all suffering, war, murder, killing, persecution, illness, need and misery, that is all the so-called "evil" mentioned above, was in reality something that God was not the source of. There had to be another source of all the evil, since God, it will be remembered, was love. He could not therefore be evil. The evil had to have a source that was evil in the same way as God was love. And this source was named the "devil", the "serpent" or the "evil one". People lived with the belief in these two mighty beings – the Godhead and the devil. While God wanted to save all human beings from evil and give them a life of light and bliss, the devil sought to get people to do evil so that they could thus be damned, suffer eternal torment and be burned in hell. And is it not said that a very great number of people will be at the mercy of the devil, will be damned, will burn in an eternal fire? Is it not also said that only a very small number will be saved and come to God and experience light and bliss? This is essentially the Christian, religious view of life or world picture as taught to us in school.
