22.9  Because of people's lack of cosmic knowledge or science hitherto, they do not understand that the only weapon with which they really can protect themselves is neighbourly love. For this reason world redemption has now, through its practitioners, given mankind the solution of the mystery of life and thereby the science of love. But this knowledge can be gained and understood only in proportion to how much one loathes war and unrest and in proportion to one's inability to have the heart to harm any living being. Then this science can develop one's mentality and way of being through teaching and guidance; one thereby becomes receptive, through cosmic glimpses, to the beginnings of cosmic consciousness. This consciousness is in turn the same as God's consciousness: the holy spirit and its ensuing divine way of being. And with this the being becomes the human being in God's image after his likeness.
