People live with the erroneous belief that eating animal food is vitally necessary for them. In their total cosmic ignorance they have no idea that their killing of animals is an infringement of the fifth commandment "Thou shall not kill". Since it is absolutely not a vital necessity for the human being to eat animal food, this being definitely an infringement of the fifth commandment or this cosmic law, the people get dark karma for murdering animals, just as they get dark karma for murdering people. The widespread massacre of animals promoted by terrestrial mankind's nutrition shows that it has no really effective feeling of love towards animals. People to a very high degree have the heart to kill them because they love to consume the parts of their physical organisms, at the same time as they believe, as previously mentioned, that animal food is a vital necessity. With such a still sleeping consciousness**, or cosmic unconsciousness in relation to animals, the terrestrial human being cannot possibly become the human being in God's image after his likeness.
