11.30  The life-determining contrasts: the "pleasant good" and the "unpleasant good"
Through special symbols and explanations of the creation of consciousness we will later show that "evil" is certainly painful and distressing, is war and quarrels, but this does not prevent it from all the same being a condition for the development of the faculties to manifest and experience the "good". We have therefore also in "Livets Bog (The Book of Life)" called the dark experiences and manifestations the "unpleasant good", and the manifestations of light the "pleasant good". All experience and manifestation of life depend on these contrasts. Without these two contrasts, absolutely no being could exist. Without these two contrasts all that today radiates as life and movement would be an absolute "nothing".
