"Adam" and "Eve" in the "Garden of Eden" knew nothing of the cosmic light exemplified by their way of being
1545. In the light or the "Garden of Eden" "Adam" and "Eve" knew only light. And this knowledge had long since become such a dominating habitual consciousness, "C-knowledge" or automatic function that only a very small, elementary hint of it still existed in their awake day-consciousness. They lived in the light, which in other words means that they complied completely with the law of love, but did not know why they did so. They did not know that there was a form of existence based completely on the infringement of this law, and which therefore constituted the absolute opposite of their own way of being. Their "cosmic consciousness", acquired in a previous spiral cycle, had in the main long since passed from their day-consciousness into their night-consciousness and been transformed into "instinct", which then became their only basis for complying with the law of life. Purely day-consciously they thus knew nothing of the cosmic light actually exemplified by their way of being, and darkness or "lack of love" – the animal, death-dealing way of living – was not merely removed from their day-consciousness but had also totally left their way of being. In a previous spiral it had long since had to give way to light penetrating their then-existing physical day-consciousness, to the advantage of their "cosmic consciousness", which was also beginning to emerge at that time, that is the consciousness that in their present "Garden of Eden" had become "C-knowledge", automatic or instinctive functioning. "Adam" and "Eve" had thus no realistic awake day-conscious knowledge of "darkness" or "cosmic death", and had likewise in a way almost outlived their knowledge of life. They were actually nothing more than an accumulation of cosmic energy or cosmic substance gathered around an I, living in the light, not through their awake day-consciousness, but through their "instinct".
