Why the terrestrial human being blindly rushes into dark, paths of sexual fate
849. That these individuals may not actually find themselves in a padded cell in their present life in no way invalidates the issue. What we are working with here are creative processes in the individual that are of a far longer time span than the short-lived mayfly periods that constitute the local lives of terrestrial human beings. But, on the other hand, we can witness in any one such single terrestrial life that several of these paths of fate lead to placement in a padded cell. One cannot see the beginning of such a path here physically, as it passed across the stage of life long before the beginning of the present life of the being concerned. But, on the other hand, we can observe other beings setting out on such a dark, sexual path and not witnessing its conclusion in the padded cell, as this will come about only in the future far beyond the present life of the being concerned. In the same way we can, of course, see intermediate stages of these paths without being able to see either their beginning or conclusion because both these factors also lie beyond the present, local life of the being concerned. And it is on account of this restricted vision that beings rush so blindly into these dangerous, sexual paths of fate, imperceptibly tethering their transformation from animal to human being to the drastic, dark spheres of these paths.
