The principle of spring in the year cycle and the being's youth
644. But after its "equinox" or semi-adult stage the being enters the "spring" of its terrestrial life. From this point until it reaches its fully grown stage or "solstice", which in the case of the terrestrial human being begins in its late twenties or at the start of its thirties, this stage represents in reality the spring of the year cycle. This manifests in the tremendous power of the awakening of spring. Its energy is the whirring sound of migratory birds flapping their wings high in the sky. It is the cry of the lapwing heard across the ploughed fields, the song of the bittern in the fen and the croaking of the frogs in the marshes. It is the sum of the spring night's amorous whisperings, longings to mate and its bursting mystery and excitement, while the being's purely bodily appearance is the beech forest's splendid, newly opened crowns of foliage and the cuckoo's unvarying song of praise resounding in the distance. "Youth" and "spring" are indeed the same principle in the cycle.
