471. But if germination and growth are to come about at all, then there has to be sun or solar power. Concerning the germination of the being's cosmic life, we have now seen that this sun or solar power is "X1" and "X2", i.e. the I in connection with the "mother-energy", which together constitutes the entity defined here in "Livets Bog" as the "super-consciousness" which again, through its attachment to "X3", forms the eternal fundamental whole we call a "living being".
      Consequently as all living beings constitute an entity made up of these three realities just mentioned, then the cosmic sun or solar power is certainly present in every living being, regardless of whatever race, category or spiral zone it may represent, and regardless to which of the three – micro-, macro- or meso – cosmoses it may belong. This solar power, which is the same as "cosmic consciousness", is the living being's eternal and true source of light and heat. Through the eternal rhythmic movements from latency to culmination and from culmination back to latency, it forms the living being's perception of life into an endless circuit from primitiveness to intellectuality, and from there again to primitiveness and intellectuality and so on and so forth continuously for ever.
      As intellectuality is the same as "cosmic summer" and primitiveness is "cosmic winter", all living beings thus, in their very nature, have this inborn unswerving passage through "cosmic summers" and "winters" and the "cosmic seasons" lying between. Therefore we cannot but observe that everything present in life, or existence – whether it be beings or objects – is influenced by these "cosmic seasons". In this way some things are affected by "winter", some by "summer", while some are "spring-like' and others "autumn-like". In cosmic life, beings are influenced just as strongly by "seasons of the year" (spiral zones) as physical life is influenced by the physical "seasons". Just as in physical existence there is frost and cold, sunshine and dull weather, rain and drought, storm and calm, lightning and thunder, in the same way in cosmic life there are also corresponding climatic conditions. Because the latter are present in a being's consciousness or mental life, they are called – as mentioned before in "Livets Bog" – "thought-climates".
