276. To the right of the present symbol we see that beyond the middle row of steps there appears another row of small steps. This is shown on the symbol in order to demonstrate that each one of the steps of the middle row appears in a multitude of types of steps or sections. This indicates that the living being's evolution from one zone of basic energy to the other can proceed only through a variety of minute steps or sections. Some of these steps are more or less well-known in daily life under the description character steps. But as these are found in such great variety that it would be impossible to describe every single step, all the character steps together within each step in the zones of the basic energies (middle row) have been classified into twelve steps or sections. Each of these sections is referred to in Livets Bog as a character zone.
