Livets Bog, vol. 1
The violet steps. World beings, fellow beings and matter beings. Spiral zones
274. On the left of the symbol we see some extra large steps coloured violet. These steps show that evolution will be divided in still larger and more immense sections than those we have just described. Such a section as shown on the symbol constitutes a combination of one each of the six different basic zones of energy. Apart from the fact that each of these sections symbolised by the violet steps, indicates a special kind of existence or evolutionary form differing notably from the others' corresponding sections within the same category, they also show the boundary of that range of evolution within which living beings can be recognised as constituting fellow beings directly related to each other. And so neither are we able to understand living beings in whose organs we ourselves live as constituting organs, nor those who in the same way live within our own bodily structure as constituting immediate fellow beings. On the contrary these are to be recognised only as our indirect fellow beings.
In our daily experience of life, then, living beings are presented to us in three large main groups. The first consists of those whose organisms are synonymous with that of our world. In Livets Bog therefore such beings will be termed world beings. The second group is made up of all those living beings who side by side with ourselves receive their experience of life in the same world or the same enormous organism and so they are to be recognised appropriately as constituting our directly related fellow beings. Then we have the living beings who make up the material of our own bodily structure within which they receive their experience of life. As those beings appear to us to a predominant degree in the form of "matter" they will be termed "matter beings".
Living beings in this way present themselves to each other under three different main categories, of which each single one constitutes a condition of life for the other two.
We note on the symbol the three violet coloured steps. It is the middle step to which we ourselves belong. We observe that it comprises one section of each of the major zones of the basic energies which are the same as our plant kingdom, animal kingdom, human kingdom and so on. Terrestrial mankind is situated in the animal kingdom (orange) of the middle violet step. And so it may be said that living beings within all the sections of that step constitute without exception all of our fellow beings. The lowest violet step is the expression for that section wherein those living beings develop who constitute our own organs and their fellow beings.
The upper violet step, on the other hand, expresses the evolutionary zone in which the Earth - synonymous with a living being - and its fellow beings are all situated and where we exist within its organism.
Outside those three violet steps there are found, both upwards into the immense and downwards into the minute, an endless number of such steps and sections, many of which are in very close connection with the basis of our own evolution but an analysis of this is not to the point here so we will come to it later in Livets Bog.
On account of their special nature these sections with the violet steps have been termed evolutionary spirals or spiral zones.
