The Eternal Godhead and Living Beings' Capacities for Sensing
The planes of existence, living beings and their capacities for sensing are shown on the symbol
262. In symbol No. 6 there is given a general survey of the energies' penetrative power and their chief value as material for the living being's faculty of sensing as well as of their mutual position and relation to each other. In the lower left-hand corner we see the form of a stairway expressing the particular steps of the various kingdoms in the world plan. Thus the lower red step stands for the area of vibration for instinct energy or that form of experience of life we call the plant kingdom. Next, reading the steps upwards therefrom, we have the remaining basic energies' areas of activity; that is, the animal kingdom, the real human kingdom, the kingdom of wisdom, the divine world and the kingdom of bliss. Above each of these steps there appears a small white triangle; this symbolises a living being. This sign has been chosen for the symbol of the living being in Livets Bog owing to the latter's triune basic analysis or identity as a "triune principle". The triangle expresses the idea that the steps are made up of the living beings. On the symbol we see that rays emanate from each living being; these rays represent the faculty of sensing of the living being in question. From the colour we see which of the basic energies is the predominant one in the faculty of sensing. At the same time we also see how the higher energies penetrate the lower ones; this underlies the living beings' positions on this stairway.
