Livets Bog, vol. 1
The "outer world" and the "inner world". "Memory energy". The "mineral kingdom" or "kingdom of bliss"
260. While the five basic energies described here with their appertaining zones of culmination comprise a reality for the living being which is expressed in Livets Bog as the "outer world", the basic energy we still have left to describe, which is symbolised by the sixth step, forms that reality in the individual's consciousness we have previously described as the "inner world". This is more easily understood when one realises that this energy is the origin of everything appearing in existence under the expression "memory". Therefore, it will at the same time be called "memory energy". Everything coming under the concept of "recollection" will therefore be identical with details and areas in the inner world, and in order to sense and experience this, one has also to make use of energy and movement. That form of energy and vibration is thus the same as the sixth basic energy. In the zone where this energy has its culmination the fundamental experience of life consists of meeting with recollections of conditions lived through by the living being in question through an immense period of earlier times, as will be shown in later analyses. As mentioned earlier, every living being constitutes an eternal reality, which means that in its cosmic analysis it has always existed and will continue to exist through all eternity and that consequently it has an endless chain of lives behind it, the observation and understanding of which will be synonymous with that individual's inner world. Here it must be noted that as terrestrial people, as already mentioned, find themselves only in the second zone of existence and the aforesaid experience does not take place until the sixth zone of existence, their ability to experience the inner world will be quite primitive. So they cannot consciously remember anything outside the present physical life, indeed, they are not able to remember the first years of it; not even the day before yesterday can be remembered correctly in minute detail. Consequently, terrestrial people cannot - as can beings with cosmic consciousness - experience their own imperishability and immortality; their horizon beyond the boundary posts marking "birth" and "death" in the present life, as mentioned before, does not stretch further - regarding a true experience of life - than the horizon of a tiny unborn embryo regarding the existence it will be entering when born into the world. As the leading principle in the sixth zone of existence is experience of the inner world, the living beings in question are active only to a very small degree in the outer world, and there comes about a kind of standstill where it borders directly on the inner world. This apparent standstill brought forth by that sixth zone can even be noticed here on Earth and shows itself in the form of all that substance we are accustomed to describe as "lifeless" and which is the origin of that reality we know as the "mineral kingdom". But as the effects which underlie the mineral kingdom do not express the general state of this sixth zone in that it manifests as the "experience of recollection" and this manifestation is the basic one and in its highest state of unfolding appears as gladness and bliss, then the sixth zone will be described not as the mineral kingdom but as the "kingdom of bliss".
