257. We now come to the third basic energy symbolised by the third step from the bottom. This energy underlies everything in existence coming under the description of "feeling", and accordingly has the name of "feeling energy". It penetrates the energies both of instinct and gravity, and as its nature has the opposite effect, or type of vibration, from that of gravity energy, the zone which it governs appears as supporting a correspondingly opposite condition of life. The opposite of killing is giving life and to give life in its deepest analysis is the same as "love"; in other words the third zone's supporting factor of life or supporting consciousness is synonymous with the principle: "Love one another", which constitutes the kernel of all those realities which help terrestrial mankind to be free from the animal kingdom. The third zone in existence is thus the same as a kingdom which just as naturally lies above the animal kingdom as the latter lies above the plant kingdom. But as this kingdom is not yet of this world, meaning that it does not appear here on Earth as do the plant and animal kingdoms in full realistic manifestation, but only in an embryonic condition with its first faint tendencies, then one will understand that this kingdom will appear almost as a kingdom of the imagination or as a utopia for terrestrial mankind, who is still primitive from a spiritual standpoint. It is the dawning effect here on Earth from that kingdom which underlies all that which brings about the concepts of "religions" and "worship of God". In Christianity this kingdom is known as the "Kingdom of Heaven" or the "Kingdom of God".
      As the energy belonging to the kingdom just mentioned is the origin of terrestrial mankind's growing deviation from that which we are accustomed to recognise as "animal" and already has been the cause of the fact that even before we have developed out of the animal kingdom we come under the concept of "human being", then this idea, the third zone's form of existence, is expressed as the "real human kingdom".
      One should remember here that terrestrial people still do not exist as fully developed human beings, but, on the contrary, appear as constituting transition beings from the animal kingdom to the real human kingdom, and will not be identical with real human beings until they have come so far in development that they no longer need to manifest themselves in the bodily structure belonging to the animal kingdom, as is now the case while living in the "bodies of mammals".
