Livets Bog, vol. 1
The symbol as an expression for the identity of the universe as an "all embracing living being" and the triune analysis of this living being; its identity as the "Godhead", the "Father" and the "sons of God"
251. In the foregoing we have given a survey of the most important facts describing terrestrial mankind's zones of evolution. Consequently these zones together constitute a part of the universe. This means that in reality the tapering figure itself stands for a part of the universe and according to this we have come to see that it consists exclusively of "living beings". Just as the tapering figure consists of vertical sections constituting threefold units so also does the universe consist of living beings constituting threefold units. The part of the universe which is shown on Symbol No. 5 consists, as mentioned before, of units called "real human beings" (the yellow areas), units called "animals" (the orange areas) - to which terrestrial mankind still belongs - units we call "plants" (the red areas) and units we call "beings of bliss" (the indigo areas). However, the latter are so far out on the physical sense horizon that they cannot be experienced or recognized by terrestrial mankind as "living beings", particularly because the physical manifestations of beings of bliss, from a terrestrial viewpoint, can be sensed only as "minerals", "matter" or "energies", and not as manifestations of living beings like plants or animals. But this does not alter the fact that the energies we call "substance" or "matter" exist with living beings as their source in just as high a degree as the realities we define as organisms or bodies for organic beings. According to cosmic analyses energies cannot actually exist independently but only in connection with living beings, just as we also know that in their deepest analysis energies exist only as "purpose", and a purpose can exist only as a reality in a consciousness and this again can manifest itself only as a living being. Thus the universe is absolutely and solely made up of units constituting living beings. As these units are threefold, the universe is also threefold, as is shown clearly on the symbol. This indicates that here we are beginning to realise that in reality the universe manifests itself as one all-comprehensive unit with exactly the same analysis as each of the living beings, namely the "fixed point" or the "Living Something" which experiences energies or movements, the "Divine Creative Principle" and the "bodies". In this way the universe constitutes a "unit" in which the X1, X2 and X3 of ordinary living beings constitute respectively a unified X1, X2 and X3. As these three X's, according to cosmic analyses, consist of the three conditions necessary for a "Something" to appear as a "living being", the fact is beginning to emerge that the universe itself constitutes "one single great living being". As this living being is identical with the whole of the universe it becomes visible as the "absolute and only true Godhead of existence". As all other existing living beings constitute the units of which the Godhead consists, we have defined them in Livets Bog as "sons of God" in the same way as we have defined the Godhead as the "Father".
On Symbol No. 5 the "sons of God" are expressed by the vertical figures and "God" or the "Father" by the whole of the horizontal tapering figure. The white areas above constitute the "Godhead's living Something" and the violet areas the "Godhead's creative faculty", and in the same way the different coloured areas at the bottom represent the "Godhead's collective bodily structure". But here it should be remembered that Symbol No. 5 shows only a limited part. As an expression of the Godhead the tapering figure should be considered as infinite. This infinity constitutes one complete cosmic unity which, when the individual has passed through the Great Birth for the first time, becomes a realistic fact for him through practical self-experience. Therefore the symbol shows that it could be said: "In Him we live and move and have our being" and also that through us God lives and moves and has His being.
