My dear Martinus,

Many thanks for your kind letter and the things you so kindly sent. I suppose you are as busy as ever, doing the most wonderful work a guru could do. You will see from my letter to Eric that conditions in India are so bad just now, owing to dividing India on the basis of language groups, that we will be having a lot of troubles in the coming months. We had already had a sample of it in Bombay. It is going to be much worse in October when the Goverment forces its scheme on the country. India was never in this sad plight in all her history, when fanaticism is let loose and hatred is spreading like wild fire. It is most unfortunate but there it is. Governments all over the world never learn anything from history. They will persist in doing things they think best even if the people did not want them. India is no exception to this. And so we have to go through some bad time this year but we will get over it. Anna and I felt that this will not be a suitable time for Eric`s visit. We have requested him to put it off till October 1957 when we feel things could have settled down and normal life will be in evidence. I know Eric will be greatly disappointed, but so are we. I am sorry for this disappointment to Eric and to all of you. But it is only a temporary disappointment, and all will be well soon.

How are you, good Martinus? I am going to the hills next week and will be with Anna for a short while. Anna`s brother and sister are now here. The brother is travelling all over India with his sketch book and brush, and he is seeing India in a right royal way. But he too should stop his tour before October begins. He may have [side 2] returned to Denmark by that time. What are your plans? The summer has begun and it is getting hot all over the country. Hope all of you are well and busy with the great work you are all doing in bringing light to the world.
